Installing Intellicus (Windows)

To start with the installation process, unzip the setup file to get the ‘Intellicus<version>_win<architecture>.exe’.

Note: You must have Administrator Privileges on the machine on which Intellicus is being installed.

Double-click the ‘Intellicus<version>_win<architecture>.exe’ file.  This invokes the installation wizard that guides you through the installation process.  The installation program starts configuring windows installer.  After the configuration is over, the welcome screen of the installation wizard is displayed as shown below in Figure 2.

Note: If you have already installed this application on the computer, a message box would prompt to uninstall Intellicus.  If not, then next step shows up.

Note: To abort the installation process, at any stage of installation, you can click the Cancel button.

If you do not have Microsoft Visual C++ on your system, the installer will prompt a message to enable installing this component prior to Intellicus installation.

Perform the below steps to install Intellicus:

  1. Double click on the setup.exe file to install Intellicus. The Preparing to Install screen appears.

  2. Click Cancel to exit installation at any point of time.
  3. Once the installation begins, the Welcome screen appears.

  4. Click Next to proceed. The License Agreement screen appears.

  5. Read the License Agreement thoroughly.
  6. Click Back to go back to the previous screen.
  7. Click No to cancel the installation process.
  8. Click Yes to agree with the license agreement and proceed with the installation. The Customer And Usage Details screen appears.

  9. Enter the User Name.
  10. Enter the Company Name.
  11. Select Anyone who uses this computer (all users) radio button to install Intellicus for any user who uses the system.
  12. Select Only for me (Windows User) radio button to install Intellicus for administrator or individual use only.
  13. Click Back to go back to the previous screen.
  14. Click Cancel to cancel the installation process.
  15. Click Next to proceed with the installation. The Installation Options screen appears with two options – Express and Custom installation.

  16. Select Express Install radio button to install all the components of Intellicus at the default location set in the installation program.

  17. Select Custom Install to select specific components install all the components of Intellicus at the default location set in the installation.program.
  18. Click Back to go back to the previous screen.
  19. Click Cancel to cancel the installation process.
  20. Click Next. The Installation Location screen appears.

    By default, the application is installed at path: C:\Program Files\Intellicus. You can either choose the default destination location or specify a different destination (installation) location.
  21. Click Browse to specify the destination location. The Choose Folder screen appears to install at any preferred location.

  22. Enter the folder path in the Path area. If you do not remember the path, you can also select specific folder path from Directories area. The selected path appears in the Path area.
  23. Click OK to select the path for installation.  The Select Components to Install screen appears.

  24. Select one or more components by selecting the respective check boxes.
    Note: Select Components to Install screen also displays the required and available hard disk space for the selected components. You can utilize this information to determine the system requirements.
    Select Intellicus Desktop Studio (32 Bit) check box if you are required to design studio reports.
  25. Click Back to go back to the previous screen.
  26. Click Cancel to cancel the installation process.
  27. Click Next. The Configure Ports screen appears.

    For Intellicus Portal Port (default 8080) and Intellicus Report Server Port (default 45450), specify a port number that is presently unused on the computer. Note: Intellicus will not startup if a port specified here is already in use by other application on this computer. These port numbers can be re-configured at any point of time after Installation is complete.
  28. Click Back to go back to the previous screen.
  29. Click Cancel to cancel the installation process
  30. Upon specifying port numbers, click Next. If you had already installed Intellicus at the default path or custom path, the Configure Overwrite Options screen appears.

    Intellicus does not remove some of the folders after un-installation so that you can back up the configuration files. If you have made configuration changes during the previous installation, on Configuration Overwrite Options page, you can select the files that the setup should replace.

  31. Click Back to go back to the previous screen.
  32. Click Cancel to cancel the installation process
  33. Click Next to proceed. In case of Express setup: Review The Installation Preferences screen appears. In case of custom setup the Configure Timeout Values screen appears.

  34. Click Back to go back and change any settings, if required.
  35. Click Cancel to cancel the installation process.
  36. Review the installation preferences on the Review The Installation Preferences screen (read-only screen).
  37. Set timeout values on the Configure Timeout Values The three timeout values are set in seconds as below:
    • Report Server Timeout: This is the maximum time within which Intellicus Report Server should respond to a client request. Default: 600.
    • Report Server Chunk Timeout: This is the maximum time for which Intellicus portal will wait to receive first chunk of report output from Intellicus Report Server. Default: 600.
    • Database Connection Timeout: This is the time after which the database connection will be closed.
      Note: These values can be re-configured at any point of time after installation is complete.
  38. Upon specifying timeout values, click Next button to proceed. The Installation Progress screen appears.

  39. Once the installation is complete, the InstallShield Wizard Complete screen appears.

  40. Select Start Intellicus Service check box to startup Intellicus Service. This service will start up Intellicus Server and Intellicus Portal.
  41. Select Launch Portal check box to auto-open Intellicus portal in default browser (when Start Intellicus Service is selected).
